Postdoc position 1

A postdoctoral research position is available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta to work on multidisciplinary research projects related to development of synthetic materials for advanced water and wastewater treatment. The prospective applicant should hold Ph.D. in materials science or related fields with a strong background in organic chemistry and polymeric synthesis. Candidates with previous experience in separation processes and hands on skills in polymeric membranes synthesis and characterization are particularly encouraged to apply. The applicants should be proficient in English, have a good record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and demonstrate ability to work productively and independently. The successful candidate is expected to assist in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and help in writing grant proposals, reports, and manuscript preparation.http://www.civil.engineering.ualberta.ca/Research/ResearchAreas/Environm... Postdoc position 2

A postdoctoral research position is available to conduct research on the ozonation and advanced oxidation of oil sands process-affected water. The successful candidate must be able to operate and maintain a UPLC and a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Experience with ion-mobility is desirable, as well as with other analytical instruments such as FT-IR, ion chromatography and toxicological tools to study the effectiveness of advanced oxidation and physical treatment for remediation of oil sands process-affected water. This position is part of a five year NSERC- Industrial Research Chair Program in Oil Sands Process-Affected Water Treatment. Applicants should hold Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering and also have a record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
